People are upset over sign KFC store posted on their doors – Restaurant refuses to take it down

The veterans discount is probably not new news to most of you. There are a lot of businesses that provide discounts and special deals to veterans and service members. When you serve your nation in the military, you get a lot of perks.

Even if it's not much, these sales are a nice way to say thanks. Something that has become standard practice for several companies.

Also, not long ago, an Ohio KFC location decided to join in. There were a lot of responses on the internet when the business put up the sign.

The store's policy was to provide complimentary meals to everyone wearing in uniform, regardless of the time of day or date. A price cut on chicken as a token of gratitude to the police in the area was the first concept. At the end of the day, this new regulation was going to get more internet attention.

The upload of this photograph on the Ohio Going Blue Facebook group created a firestorm of debate.

A lot of people had different opinions, even though there were over 10,000 likes and 6,000 shares.

Some commenters questioned if the offer to the police was really required. Other comments suggested that the officer would rather not get preferential treatment and would rather foot the bill himself. Opinions expressed by Facebook administrators:

Even though this is an upbeat message, I see that some of you fail to grasp the broader context. No matter whether I'm in uniform or not, as an officer I do not expect anything to be free when I enter any institution. Other cops share this sentiment. Nothing says "special treatment" to us. The message was made because KFC is showing its appreciation to the police. Whoever said that more first responders need to likewise be recognized is correct. What am I going to say? Without a doubt.

Despite the significant media attention, the sign will still be displayed at the business.

We applaud the policemen who risk their lives every day and want them to know how much we value their sacrifice.
